Confidential Informant Development

Confidential Informant Development is a course designed and presented by an experienced narcotics officer who has made federal and state drug cases. Most patrol officers receive little training in narcotics investigation beyond basic criminal contacts. This course explains how a confidential informant can be developed and considerations that should be taken when doing so. Throughout this presentation real cases, including undercover buys, will be reviewed, and discussed. Other areas covered include a review of who can and cannot be a CI, when to call a narcotics investigator, court cases governing confidential informants, and a sample confidential informant criteria form.

This course is POST approved for Missouri law enforcement officers. Missouri officers will receive 1 hour of continuing education in technical studies.
